About
The Department of Preschool Pedagogy and Psychology is part of the Faculty of Psychology of Education.
The main objectives of the department\’s activity are to promote the formation of professional self-awareness of teachers based on their understanding of the specifics of the psychological and pedagogical conditions of children\’s development in preschool childhood, which allows students to effectively and reflexively solve the tasks of development and training in accordance with cultural, historical and activity approaches in further independent work; to form students\’ professional competencies for the psychological and pedagogical support of the development of children of early and preschool age, the organization of children\’s activities, the organization of educational activities with preschoolers and the organization of interaction with all participants in the educational process in the preschool.
Science
The scope of scientific interests of the Department is determined by a wide range of topical theoretical and practical problems of children\’s development in the context of cultural and historical psychology and activity approach:
- the functions of symbolic and visual-figurative means in the development of preschoolers;
- metacognitive processes (cognitive activity, reflection) in preschool age;
- features of mental and personal development of preschoolers in modern socio-cultural conditions;
- principles of psychological and pedagogical support of educational work with preschoolers taking into account modern requirements;
- tools of psychological and pedagogical monitoring to improve the effectiveness of educational work with preschoolers;
- features of interaction of parents with preschoolers and their attitude to the issues of upbringing and education of children.
