Department of Developmental Psychology named after Professor L.F. Obukhova

About

The Department of Developmental Psychology was established as part of the Faculty of Psychology of Education in 1998 and is a graduate. In 2016, the Chair was named after Professor Lyudmila Obukhova, the first head of the Chair, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, professor.

The tasks of the Department include training specialists in the field of scientific and practical work who have a broad orientation in the field of human development psychology at all stages of ontogenesis, who are able to see current problems of science and practice, set tasks, conduct research, analyze and generalize facts, identify patterns, understand the peculiarities of mental development in the modern socio-cultural situation.

#Faculty of Psychology of Education

The Department provides a course of lectures on age psychology and conducts seminars at all faculties of the University in full-time, evening, and correspondence departments.

Lectures and practical classes of teachers of the Department form the basis of theoretical knowledge for practical work in the field of child, pedagogical and age psychology.

The Department expands contacts with scientific and practical centers, other educational institutions, schools, and preschool institutions to ensure practice and conduct scientific research.

Science

The structure-forming motive of the Department’s work is to preserve and develop the fundamental principles of the scientific schools of L.S. Vygotsky, A.N. Leontiev, P.Ya. Galperin, L.I. Bozhovich, A.V. Zaporozhets, D.B. Elkonin, M.I. Lisina.

The main directions of scientific research of the Department of Developmental Psychology named after Professor L.F. Obukhova:

  • Development of a periodization of the mental development of the child, corresponding to the general nature of modern childhood;
  • Study of individual options for the development of the personality of children;
  • Studying the development of children, including the impact of digital technologies;
  • Study of the creative potential of the child and the means of its implementation;
  • Study of the symptoms of age-related developmental crises;
  • Determination of the influence of the socio-cultural norm of a child\’s development in modern society on the study of the role of the family, educational institutions and non-educational spheres of life in the child\’s mental development, etc;
  • Designing developing digital educational environments;
  • Identification of the conditions that ensure the overcoming of life\’s barriers in the context of personal growth.
